Operation Skoshi Warrior 2009

This special event is offered annually and provides children a glimpse into preparation military members experience prior to deployments. Activities include obstacle courses, Meals Ready-to-Eat tasting, mock deployment briefing, static displays of equipment and much more. Gordon and Destiny loved it. As you can tell from the pics... they had an absolute blast!

Last weekend we visited Pineapple Park with our good friends Tiffany and Steve. It was pretty interesting. There are over 100 different types of Pineapple to see there! The Pineapple carts are fully automatic and include a voice recorded guide. Visitors can listen to the announcements in their pineapple cart while they look at pineapples from around the world, and how they grow. After a ride on the cart we were able to see and taste tons of foods and wines made from... you guessed it... PINEAPPLE. Some of it was simply divine such as the cakes and juices, but the wine wasn't that great in my opinion. It was a great experience and we had a good time. :) Anyone who visits us in Oki is sure to get a trip to see this unique attraction!

Our Dr. Fish Experience

These fish have no teeth, they use their powerful sucking lips to suck away dead skin, which can stimulate acupuncture point and modulate the nervous system to relax your body and release fatigue. Mostly... The kids just thought it would be fun! They can't wait to have another Dr. Fish treatment. I simply found it relaxing, the fish tickled and just felt like a small vibration around your feet. :)

Photo Success!

This is a random picture of Destiny playing on the slide in her pretty pink dress. I love this pic and I love how cute she is in that dress.

I have always wanted to know how to get this effect to come out correctly. This is my first attempt at highlighting one color in a photo. I learned so much with this one project! Over all, I think it came out GREAT. There are a few changes that I will make on my next try but I am completely happy with this little experiment.

A little decoration goes a long way

Today Travis hung some pictures and some artwork that I found at one of the gift shops on base. I was so glad that he liked it, since he wasn't there when I picked it out. I quickly went out and picked up a few other things to tie it into our very limited decor. I thought that some of our loved ones would enjoy seeing how we're making our house into a home for the next few years.

My Mommy Van - Nissan Liberty

Okay so I said I'd NEVER get a mini-van. Soooo I lied. It's even more of a mini-van than the states... atleast in the "mini" aspect. Although it is smaller than an American Mini-van. It has some great amenities. First of all this thing has a built in Navigation System, too bad it's all in Japanese but it shows me where I am on a cool map. Except when I am on base because you that stuff is"top secret"... YEAH RIGHT! It also has a built in back up camera that shows me where the curb is, where the white lines are and the red line shows me how far to back up so I won't hit anything. Pretty Nifty eh? I also like the display it is a digital light up display and it's BIG. And of course, we drive on the wrong damn side of the car and the road so as you can see... everything is on the right side of the car. It's so hard to remember to look left to check the rear-view. Plus, the blinker and wind shield wiper handle are backwards. I'm sure you can image me getting pissed that the wipers didn't come on, or attempting to signal a turn with your wipers. lol

Hotto Motto

No... it's not a silly japanese greeting and has nothing to do with the "Hello Motto" greeting from Motorola. It's actually our new favorite fast food chain. OMG, we really like this food. It's not even like fast food. It's like amazing food and you get it really fast. You can't even sit down in this place to eat (take-out only) but it is open 24 hours. Today Travis is gone so Destiny and I took Gordy for the first time. He says it's a 10 outta 10. They have some great selections and it is very cheap. Tori Ten-Don at ¥330 (about $3.30) is a big bowl of crispy fried chicken with a special homemade sauce served over rice. The Tori Ten-Bento at ¥440 (about $4.40) is a box lunch with fried chicken, rice, potato salad and this picked relish stuff. All of the selections come with it's own tasty sauce paired along side. YUMMY! They also have this yummy seasoning pouch that you pour on the rice. I haven't quite figured out how to order a side of it so for now I just steal mine from the kids. :) Really tho, they don't mind sharing it with me. The fried chicken sauce is made with lemon and vinegar and it's soooo Yummy! I think it's my fav.

"Ok..so the United States has McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's...to sum it up...BARF! Let's just say, "America needs Hotto Motto!"

First 3 days of the drive

Our trip started out on 6 March. On the first leg we drove from Altus, OK to Albuquerque, NM. The was a great place to stop bc they have my all time favorite (so far) Sushi restaurant! It was great. The food was amazing and the place is very friendly. We had been the once before around Thanksgiving on our way back from CO. I was so glad to have gotten another chance to go there. It was a little less enjoyable this time though, as we had to look outside every five minutes since we had our entire truck bed filled with suitcases. Then the next morning we went to the local Carmax where I sold my 2003 Xterra. What a sad day for me that was. Travis took me to a local Mexican food place and tried to drown my sorrows away with overpriced margaritas. Sadly, it didn't help much.

Next, we drove to Las Vegas, NV. It was a first for the kids and I. Travis had been there a number of times and wanted to take the kids where his parents took him and his brothers as children. We arrived at about 1 in the morning. The kids weren't too upset with us... since they got to go out to eat at around 2 am. We stayed at Circus Circus. It was a pretty neat place for kids. They got to go to Adventuredome Theme Park and play games at Circus Circus' famous Carnival Midway. We also saw a few shows such as Natalia Kochetkova who had a balancing act and a group that did a show on the trapeze. It was really cool to see. For Supper we went to THE Steak House “The Best Steak House in Las Vegas” or so they said. More like a HUGE waste of money. $44 per plate and it tasted like they fried it in a pan on the stove with out any seasoning whatsoever! We were highly disappointed. Fortunately, our dog was happy... we gave him the leftovers!

Only about 4 more days of driving to go! Yippie!

WOW! I can't believe that the movers start packing our stuff on Friday. We aren't even close to ready. I have stuff in storage that I need to get rid of, a car to sale and a house to get organized. Of course, NONE of that stopped me from sitting here on my duff to type this blog. LOL Oh well, I'm drinking some coffee and trying to get motivated. I think I'll make a trip over the the Airmen's Attice today and donate a bunch of stuff. That place was always great when I was in the AF. I got a lot of free useful stuff there and I know someone else in need will get all of the stuff we don't need anymore. I have held on to so much stuff over the years. Luckily for me, I have a whole new wonderful life and it's time for me to just move on from the past. As they say... "Out with the old and in with the new!"
